Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected when you use Sioux County Criminal History, why it is used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. It also explains the role of outside search providers and links to Nebraska government record systems. By continuing to use the website, you accept the practices stated in this policy.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered into a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Sioux County Criminal History does not retain or log those search terms on its own systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

We may retain an email or other direct message long enough to review it and respond. The message remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the servers automatically receive technical details about the visit, including:

  • The IP address assigned to your device
  • Which browser you are using and its version
  • Your device type and operating system
  • The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
  • The site that sent you here, if any
  • Timestamps for each page view

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files saved on a device. They help show how visitors move through the site, including popular pages and exit points. Analytics providers combine that activity into traffic reports. You can block cookies through your browser, although doing so may change how parts of the site function.

What We Do With This Data

  • Finding and correcting performance or technical problems
  • Routing a search request to the selected partner service
  • Operating the site and keeping its pages responsive
  • Measuring which resources visitors use most
  • Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Sioux County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to records held by the Sioux County Sheriff, Sioux County Court and District Court, the Nebraska State Patrol Criminal Identification Division, and the Nebraska Sex Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Visitor data is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes that appear on this site. Information entered there is governed by the provider's privacy policy, not this policy. Each provider sets its own retention and sharing rules. Review those terms before sending a query because Sioux County Criminal History does not control them.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to the Sioux County government, Nebraska court portals, Nebraska State Patrol pages, legal resources, or outside search services. Once you follow a link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Read it before providing personal information.

Advertising providers may also track activity across websites to tailor ads. Their systems, rather than ours, perform that tracking.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Data may still be available to:

  • Analytics providers that measure site traffic and performance
  • Search partners that process a query you submit
  • Advertising networks that place ads on the pages
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard safeguards are used to protect collected data. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

This website is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor supplied such information, we will delete it.

Your Data Rights

Rights concerning private-site data depend on the law where you live. The Nebraska Public Records Act, Neb. Rev. Stat. §§84-712 through 84-712.09, governs access to records held by public bodies. Nebraska's criminal-history dissemination rule, Neb. Rev. Stat. §29-3523, limits release of certain arrest information and sealed history. Those laws govern government records and do not, by themselves, turn this private site into a public custodian. Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
  • Have us fix information that is wrong
  • Request that we erase your data
  • Opt out of certain kinds of data processing

Updates to This Policy

This privacy policy may be revised as practices or legal duties change. An updated version becomes available on this page with a revised effective date.
